COLIN allred: Anti-Parental Rights and Anti-School Choice
THE FACTS
Colin Allred has repeatedly opposed legislation protecting parental rights and school choice for Texas students.
- In March 2023, Rep. Allred voted against H.R. 5, which is known as the “Parental Bill of Rights.” The bill was a broad rights bill for parents to allow them to have more access to information regarding their children, their child’s school, and state education standards.
- Colin Allred voted twice against blocking President Biden’s student loan forgiveness program. Allred voted against passage of H.J. Res. 45 and against overturning President Biden’s veto of H.J. Res. 45.
- Colin Allred has condescendingly mocked parents who think that inappropriate books are a threat to their children, stating (6:53 – 7:38): “At the school board level, right now, terrible things, in my opinion, are being done at some of our school boards—banning books, saying that ‘you can’t have this book in the library, this is a, it’s a threat to our children.’ Well, first of all, we have a thing called the internet. . .”
