THE FACTS

Colin Allred is a staunch ally of the “Defund the Police” movement.

  • On February 9, 2023, Rep. Colin Allred voted against H.J. Res. 26¹, which was official congressional disapproval of the Washington D.C. district council’s actions to reduce criminal penalties for numerous crimes². According to White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre, the district council bill lowered sentences for serious violent crimes such as murder, sexual assault offenses, armed home invasions, and carjackings³.
  • In March 2021, Rep. Colin Allred was an original co-sponsor and voted for H.R. 1280, which was considered a de facto “Defund the Police” bill. The bill would “defund the police” via massive “unfunded mandates,” citing “hundreds of millions” in new costs imposed on police departments through regulations. Additional impacts on law enforcement included eliminating qualified immunity, blanket bans on “no-knock” warrants, banning departments from receiving military equipment, and creating a federal database of law enforcement officers that may be wrongfully accused.
  • In 2020, Allred voted against a motion to recommit H.R. 51 that would require Washington D.C. to provide ‘adequate and continued funding’ for law enforcement and public safety agencies
  • Allred voted against condemning the “Defund the Police” movement and against expressing the sense that Congress appreciated the dedicated men and women of law enforcement. The vote was on Congresswoman Malliotakis’ motion to recommit H.R. 1280.
  • Allred has taken around $60,000 from groups and individuals that have supported the radical “Defund the Police” movement.
  • Allred has opposed the use of cash bail (36:46 – 37:09) and supported Soros-funded DA John Creuzot.
