THE FACTS

Colin Allred has consistently supported open borders policies.

  • On Allred’s campaign website, prior to converting it to launch a new version for his Senate campaign, he called for a pathway to citizenship for all illegal immigrants who are “obeying the law.”1
  • Allred has opposed building physical barriers on our southern border, stating that a border wall is a “failed policy” that we don’t “want or need,” is “insulting to our neighbors in Mexico,” “racist,” and is “wrong in every possible way.
  • Allred said that Texas’s law banning sanctuary cities was “misguided,” “discriminatory,” “a stain on our state’s history,” and he said that “trying to act tough on immigration is not the Texas way.” Allred also said that it “vilifies Latinos” and “makes our communities less safe for everyone” that it should “never become law,” that it’s “cruel and inhumane, and has no place in our state,” and it’s a “proof point of Republicans’ historical lack of concern for all Texans. This isn’t leadership, it’s cowardice.”
  • In May 2023, Colin Allred voted against the Secure the Border Act of 2023, which contained numerous common-sense border security measures.
  • Allred voted no on Ben Cline’s motion to recommit HR 6, the American Dream and Promise Act of 2019, with instructions to require the deportation of any individual who is denied amnesty due to criminal, terrorism, or gang connections.
  • In 2023, Rep. Allred voted against H.R. 2494. The bill makes assaulting a law enforcement officer, firefighter, or other first responder a deportable offense.
  • Allred voted against Rep. Doug Collins’ motion to recommit H.R. 8 to amend the bill to require ICE be notified when an illegal immigrant attempts to purchase a firearm.
  • Allred cosponsored resolution H.R. 670, which condemned CBP for the myth that agents were using reins as whips. Allred was not an original sponsor when it was introduced on September 21, 2021, but signed on September 24 after the myth of the viral image had begun to be widely disputed.
  • Allred voted yes on Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s amendment to HR 2500 that would have prohibited deploying troops to the southern border for immigration enforcement purposes
  • He also voted yes on the American Dream and Promise Act of 2019, which sought to provide permanent resident status to illegals who entered the country as minors or are from countries that were offered Temporary Protected Status at some point. The bill also tried to allow states to provide in-state tuition benefits to illegals. NumbersUSA identified this as an amnesty bill and claimed the actual number of beneficiaries would be about four million.
  • On July 19, 2023, Colin Allred voted against the Schools Not Shelters Act, which prohibited using school facilities that receive federal funding from being used to house any non-U.S. nationals who unlawfully entered the country.
  • In 2019, Allred voted against a motion to recommit on H.R. 4617 that would have classified election interference by foreign nationals as a deportable offense. Allred also voted against a motion from Rep. Dan Crenshaw expressing the sense of Congress that allowing illegal immigrants to vote undermined the vote of American citizens.

  • Colin Allred worked to keep the federal government from cooperating with Texas’ efforts to secure the border by voting to prohibit federal funds from being used for Texas’ Operation Lone Star.
